Tamara Two-Steppers

You are invited to “come dancing” with us on Wednesday evenings. Our Club,  “Tamara Two-Steppers”, is a small but very friendly round dance club with 24 members. We dance in the Methodist School Room, Church View Mews, Clifford on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings each month from about 7.00pm. We have been dancing in Clifford for some four or five years, before which we danced in Bramham Village Hall.  The club was formed in 1999 at East Ardsley and we moved shortly after that to Bramham.  This year we are celebrating our tenth year.

Round dancing is best described as “choreographed ballroom dancing” where the instructions (Cues) are given by a cuer so that all the floor are doing the same steps at the same time.
This is intended for those who have never danced before or have done very little dancing as well as experienced dancers who wish to try something a little different.

If you are interested in joining us then please ring Ann & Tony on 0113 2520336 as soon as possible.  If there are sufficient numbers then additional evenings will be arranged. Please bring a partner if possible!!
Come along and have fun!!   Learn to enjoy life again!!.

“Round Dancing” is very similar to sequence dancing with the very big difference that you do not need to remember the sequences!! Round Dancing is a non competitive pastime.  No Competition, No pressure. Just good fun!!!
Our Cuer, Tony Metcalfe and his wife, Ann, will teach you all the basic steps in Rumba, Waltz, Cha Cha, Two Step, Foxtrot and other rhythms and then “call or Cue” the moves to help you through the dance.  It’s as simple as that!!

For more information about round dancing there are various web sites available. The main site is www.uksquaredancing.com This is the main web address for the British Association of American Square Dance clubs.  The BAASDC is the parent body for square and round dancing in Great Britain.  Round dancing is classed as part of square dancing.  (You may also see in the Clifford web page reference to “Harmony Squares”, who are a square dance club and who also dance in Clifford).
Other web sites which contain information about round dancing are to be found on Google search under “round dancing”.  I would direct you to the Roundalab page.  “Roundalab” is the American governing body and whilst most of the other web sites  relate to American and Canadian clubs, round dancing is a world wide activity.
Once you have learned the basic steps you would be able to dance at any round dance club in the world!!
If you are interested, why not pop in and just see what it is all about.  We are having a dance on Saturday 10th October in the Village Hall from 3.00pm until about 1015pm (with a break for tea). You will be made most welcome, and whilst you may feel that you do NOT wish to get up and dance, you will get some idea of what we do.
