Parking - Proposals for White Lines - update from July parish council meeting |
|
At the Parish Council Meeting on Wednesday 20th July, the councillors reviewed the proposals for white lines which had been drawn up by Leeds City Council, together with their proposed amendments which had been displayed on both the Parish Council Notice Board and on the Parish Council website. It was noted that the Parish Council article in the Outlook Magazine had referred to the specific proposals informing residents where they could be viewed, inviting them to request copies, letting them know that the proposals would be agreed at the July Meeting and asking them to send comments to the clerk. A number of comments had been received from residents, some agreeing with the proposals in full, some wishing to add more white lines and others wishing to exclude some of the proposed white lines. The councillors took into account all the comments which had been received from residents and decided, on balance, they would like to go ahead with the published proposals as per the professional advice of the police and Leeds City Council Traffic Management Department. In order to minimise the problems caused by parked cars they felt that the proposals struck a balance between the views of various residents. Once the proposals have been implemented the council will review the impact they have had on parking in the village and may revisit the situation. Leeds City Council Traffic Management has confirmed that they will consult residents if white lines are to be placed outside their properties but they are unable to give a firm time-scale for the works to be undertaken.Â
Â
Previously: the council had discussed Leeds City Council’s proposals for road markings, taking into account comments received from residents. All the proposals except the proposed bus clearway were discussed by full council with Cllrs Shaw & Winterburn, who did not participate in the voting, leaving the room for the discussion on the bus clearway. The council agreed to accept most of Leeds City Council’s proposals but to share these with residents before they are implemented. The proposals would lead to H bar markings on parts of the High Street, Albion Street, Chapel Lane, Bellwood Avenue & Moor Avenue as well as the re-siting of the bollard on the High Street side of the War Memorial. The proposals will be shown on the Parish Council website and displayed on the Parish Council Notice Board, any residents wishing to have a copy of the proposals should contact the clerk. Please note that these proposals will be on the agenda for the Parish Council Meeting on 20th July at which a final decision will be taken so residents are urged to look at the proposals & forward their comments to the clerk prior to this.Â
